TCHS choir conducted by Matt Jennings
Recently two groups of students from the Tyler Consolidated High School Band performed in Sistersville and St. Marys, sharing their talents and spreading the holiday cheer through their seasonal music.
Several members have been rehearsing with the St. Marys Community Concert Band (SMCCB) since early November.
The rehearsals ended with a concert at St. Marys High School on Tuesday December 7th. The 60-plus group performed nine holiday selections in front of a large crowd in the SMHS auditorium. The SMCCB rehearses two hours a week at the St. Marys Marina and is made up of musicians ranging in age from 15 to 80 years old. Participating Knights Band members included: Shauna Riggs, trumpet; Makenzie Hakes, Analeigh Hakes and Aiden Swan, French horn; Kellen Franks, tuba; Kaylee Haught, trombone; Elias Haught, Cooper Clayton and Jordan Krajcovic, percussion.
In addition, a number of band members provided worship music at Sistersville First United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 12. The ensemble played three hymns accompanied on the organ, in addition to several selections before and after the service. These members included: Shauna Riggs, Mason Nichols, Aiden Swan and Luke Deaton (trumpet), Jesse Griffith and Colby Nichols (trombone), Harley Yeater (tuba), Ava Gorrell (bassoon) and Elias Haught (timpani). Additionally, Team Praise leader Dr. Gary Nichols played the French horn throughout. Their director, Matt Jennings, is the church organist.
