WICKLOW Male Voice Choir aims to help local efforts in the town of Wicklow to help the people of Ukraine by hosting a concert at St Patrick’s Church towards the end of May.
he choir is back in rehearsal for the concert in Ukraine, while they will also sing at St. Patrick’s Church for Easter Sunday mass.
Choir member Eamonn Sheridan said: “We haven’t been able to sing together for almost two and a half years now, and we had planned a concert for May 29. Once the war broke out in Ukraine, we decided that the concert should be to Ukraine’s rescue.
“We want to make sure that any funds raised stay local as there is quite a bit of work going on in Wicklow town in preparation for the arrival of refugees from Ukraine. I know the Old City of Wicklow Library is going to become a hub in Ukraine and we just want to be able to help in any way we can. It is a noble cause that we want to support.
Tickets will go on sale shortly and can be purchased for €15, with the show taking place on Sunday 29 May. The choir will also gather for their first live performance in over two years at St Patrick’s Church on Easter Sunday.
“It will be the first time we’ve sung live for a long time, so everyone is looking forward to it. Now that the choir is back in regular formation, we will always welcome new members and anyone interested should contact any member who will best welcome them,” Eamonn added.
