The government publishes an official program for the activities to be held in remembrance of the Rt. Hon. Mr Manuel Esquivel

By Benjamin Flowers: Today the Government of Belize released the official program detailing the events held in memory of the late former Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Dr Sir Manuel Esquivel KCMG, PC.

At 1:00 p.m. today, the urn bearing his ashes will be transported via Cortège (Procession) to the former dining room of the Hôtel du Gouvernement, where it will be displayed. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only guests will be allowed to pay their respects, between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Tomorrow, February 16, at 2:10 p.m., there will be the ringing of church bells along the route which will signal the start of the Cortège (Procession) of Monsieur. Esquivel’s house on the grounds of Government House, for a memorial concert celebrating his life to be held at 3:00 p.m. After the concert Mr. Esquivel will receive his official military honors.

“Events include the playing of the national anthem by the Belize Defense Force band and the 21-gun salute by the BDF; laying of wreaths by officials; and presentation of the flag of Belize to the family of Rt. Hon. Dr Sir Manuel Esquivel,” GOB said.
