The Colorado High School Activities Association is excited about the upcoming State Championships in Athletics, scheduled for May 19-21 at Jeffco Stadium. We have been monitoring the weather from many reliable sources and the plan remains for the three-day meet to begin as scheduled on May 19.
As for the weather, Thursday is expected to be warm and while we are prepared with cooling protocols, please ensure your athletes are hydrated and ready for the heat. Friday’s forecast calls for temperatures in the 50s with cloud cover and intermittent light rain. The rain is expected to increase between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday and potentially turn to snow. By Saturday morning, some accumulation and cold temperatures are expected.
If snow remains on the track at Jeffco Stadium, we will continue to monitor conditions throughout Saturday and hope to have the opportunity to compete and complete the meet as planned. If the track remains unplayable, the meet will be moved to the next available day, Sunday, May 22, in order to complete the state championships.
