Blain White presented the Jerry Matthews Most Inspirational Athlete Award to Preston Dunn. Senior athlete selection for this award is based on nominations by the head coaches of each sport. Once nominations are received, all coaches, administrators and several patrons vote from a ballot for the student they feel is most deserving of this award.

Certificates and “J” Honor Pins: In order to receive this honor, students must have accumulated grades of A and B for all four 9 weeks of the school year. Students meeting the criteria receive a bronze award for the first year they qualify, a silver award for the second year, a gold award for the third year, and a gold star for the fourth year.

KSHSAA Citizenship Awards: These awards are given to a graduating boy and graduating girl who have proven themselves to be our most outstanding citizens. Selection is based on respect for: the flag, the national anthem and the Constitution; for the students and citizens of our school and our community; for public and private property; and demonstrates tolerance and respect for the beliefs and rights of others; Responsibility: demonstrates a willingness to assume civic responsibilities at school and in the community, works to strengthen school pride by actively participating in projects that make known, honor or embellish the school, demonstrates good sportsmanship, whether as a participant or spectator, is friendly to new students and encourages their involvement in school activities; and Reverence: Shows reverence, concern and respect for the welfare of others. The 2022 KSHSAA Citizenship Awards to Bailee Hudson and Elijah Delp.
Dale M. Dennis Excellence in Education Award: The student receiving this honor must possess the following characteristics: Citizenship: Shows respect for all citizens and the community and demonstrates integrity in all situations; Service: is actively involved in school organizations and community programs or service organizations; Scholarship: demonstrates a strong commitment to academic excellence and is recognized as someone who desires to learn beyond the norm; and Self-awareness: demonstrates practical problem-solving skills and a positive attitude in all situations. This year, the prize was awarded to Preston Dunn.
Governor’s Scholar Award: Elijah Delp was announced as the recipient of the Governor’s Scholar Award. Students chosen for the Governor’s Scholar Award are in the top percent of their graduating class based on the student’s GPA at the end of the 7th semester of high school. The criteria involved included the following: GPA, ACT score, and Kansas Honors Curriculum. A program was held in early May for all Kansas Governor’s Scholars.
Bonnie Dudrey Memorial College Credit Scholarship: This scholarship is retroactive and is only awarded if a student achieves a “C” or higher in the course. The following seniors received this scholarship this year: Adrian Adame, Lexie Brummer, Kaylynn Claussen, Elijah Delp, Kimbra Dowling, Preston Dunn, Lochlyn Duntz, Nevaeh Fischer, Cassie Long, MaKayla Meyer, Payton Meyer, Jessica Owens, Darby Smith and Hunter. Valedictorian Awards: These honored students have maintained the highest GPA for the past four years. The valedictorians for the Class of 2022 are Lexie Brummer, Elijah Delp, Preston Dunn, MaKayla Meyer, Payton Meyer, Conner Murphy, Darby Smith and Hunter Smith. To obtain this honor, students need intelligence, perseverance, maturity and patience. Mr. White also presented Jostens plaques and medals to Lexie, Elijah, Preston, MaKayla, Payton, Conner, Darby and Hunter.
