
Jarrow of Simonside Parish is offering free takeaway picnics, or families can stay and play at the Places of Welcome+ Community Sessions which run until September 1.
There are games and other activities. Depending on the location, there are also computers, parachute games or crafts.
The organizers are grateful for the funding they received to support the initiative and to Jarrow Morrisons Community Champion Andria Williams for her support with the picnics.
Lunches are available at the following Lieux d’Accueil+ between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. as follows.
Mondays, Action Station, Boldon Lane, South Shields; Tuesdays, St Peter’s Church Centre, York Avenue, Jarrow; Wednesdays, St Simon’s Church, Wenlock Road, Simonside; Thursdays, St John the Baptist Community Hall, Nairn Street, Jarrow.
Reverend Lesley Jones, parish rector, said: ‘It is wonderful that our churches can be part of a huge and generous response from the public and private sectors in South Tyneside, because together we are all doing what we can. to help our neighbors during this huge climb. in the cost of living.
“And the good news is that we are here every week and will continue to offer support after the holidays as well.”

As well as free picnics, the parish also participates in South Tyneside Council’s free holiday activities for all families affected by financial hardship with four holiday club sessions taking place on Fridays in August.
