Does a pomegranate look like a red onion? Pupils at a primary school thought so when they took part in an interactive workshop with a fruit jar supplier.
PrepWorld, based at Court Lodge Farm in Southfleet, visited Sedley Church of England Primary School, also in Southfleet.
Alberto Moreda, PrepWorld Procurement Manager, gave a Journey of Fruit presentation to the children as part of their learning about “The People Who Help Us”.
They discovered farmers from all over the world and were able to see inside the factories to learn how the fruit is prepared.
Teacher Lauren Longhurst said: “The children had the opportunity to try a range of fresh fruit which also made learning more memorable.”
Alberto said: “It was great to see the Acorns at Sedley School so interested in fruit; they asked a lot of interesting questions.
“I love seeing the kids try new fruits that they have never seen before. Pomegranates have proven popular with them despite initially guessing them as red onions. We like to put in our little effort to educate on healthy eating.
PrepWorld regularly donates jars of fruit to schools, food banks and charities such as the Ellenor Hospice in Northfleet.
