On Sunday, December 5, Saint-Charles Episcopal Church hosts the annual Advent lessons and songs festival at 10:45 a.m., with the choir and instrumentalists of the parish.
A beautiful respite from the stress of December, the choir and instrumentalists of Saint-Charles present the message of anticipation and grace of Advent through meditative hymns, poignant readings and Christmas carols sung by the assembled congregation – all in great English style.
Join the church as the St. Charles Choir turns from darkness to light.
Music from the St. Charles Church Choir, and conducted by Music Director Mark Downey, will include great choral music in the Anglican tradition by Philip Moore, Philip Young, Robert Lau, David Thorne, as well as songs by Advent and hymns for the congregation.
St. Charles Episcopal Church is located at 994 Fifth Ave., just north of Route 64 in St. Charles. The church is wheelchair accessible and has ample free parking.
The St. Charles Choir is well known in the region as a mixed choir in the tradition of the Royal School of Church Music. The result is sound with a wide dynamic range and beautiful expression. St. Charles has been described as a destination for those seeking musical refreshment and excellence, building on the existing strengths of the choir and guest performers, Georgian architecture, the 21-row Howell organ and the Anglican heritage.
