The Quesnel Choir will sing Christmas classics this holiday season.
The Q City Singers return this month after being relatively quiet for the past few years due to COVID-19.
Their first rehearsal for the Christmas season will be Thursday, September 22 at Bethel Church at 6:30 p.m. and will continue weekly.
“I’m excited. I ordered all the music a few weeks ago, so it’s starting to happen now,” director Corry Climenhage said.
The Q City Singers held a spring mini-session with strong results earlier this year after having had no rehearsals or choir performances since the pandemic began.
Fall and winter rehearsals will continue until Thursday, December 8, followed by a concert.
“Our theme is A Quiet Christmas because we’ve all been through a lot over the past few years,” Climenhage said. “It’s time to return to traditional music, to have a chance to reflect the arrival of spring and the darkest time of the year, which is the solstice, and to simply celebrate with traditional Christmas carols and a winter atmosphere.”
The Q Singers will kick off their spring season on Thursday, January 12, 2023, with a concert in May.
Although Climenhage said you don’t have to sing well to participate, the ability to carry a melody is important.
“It’s not meant to be intimidating,” she added. “It’s quite delicious, and people are always surprised that it’s actually easier than it looks.”
