Manitoba country gospel group Prairie Joe is releasing their second CD, “Some Good ‘ol Songs”, featuring their version of some of our favorite gospel songs and hymns.
The band hails from the Oak Lake area of southwestern Manitoba and consists of 5 brothers and a brother-in-law, each talented in vocals and instrumentation.
His brother, Rob Thiessen, says it’s been a while since their first release, ‘The Good Life’ in 2016. “We were thrilled to finally have some new music and to record some of our old favorites as well. The pandemic freed up time in the studio, so we took advantage of it. It took us quite a few hours during the pandemic, but we finally made it! So we’re excited to finally have something new for everyone.
Thiessen says he has the recording studio in his basement, so getting the band together to record isn’t that hard, as long as everyone has the time.
‘Some Good ‘ol Songs’ has ten favorites, mostly the old classics the brothers grew up hearing in church. The CD was launched on all social media platforms last week and is also available on their website.
With the release of their second CD, Thiessen says their goal is simply to release new music for people who enjoy Prairie Joe, “and to bless people and answer the call that we have commanded regarding just do our part to spread the gospel,” he adds.
They have already begun their summer tour of Western Canada, with only a handful of live gigs in southwestern Manitoba. The band will play in Wawanesa on July 20. Thiessen suggests checking their website for the current concert lineup which is updated regularly.
