
Papadosio rang the New Years Eve on Friday, December 31 with a vibrant and exploratory show at Bluestone in Columbus, Ohio. The performance marked the second night of Papadosio’s New Year’s celebration in the iconic 19th-century Baptist church that has become a meeting place.
The group gave fans free live video feeds from the two nights of their race on nugs.net.
Papadosio kicked off the evening with “The Plug”, followed by the title track In the light of the stars, which evolved into “Oracle Theme” and “The Sum”. The band then delivered a jammy “Shitake” from their 2020 LP. Microdosio, followed by “If It Wasn’t For You” and a long version of “You and Yourself” to close the set.
The second set started with “Advocate of Change”, another song by In the light of the stars. The band ended the year with “Vactrolio”, which led to a New Year’s countdown, preceded by a few words of encouragement from guitarist Anthony Thogmartin “Here’s to hope for a better year. Always keep hope. The band then performed “Night Colors,” “Ear to Ear,” “Versicolor,” “Fanfare for the Rain People” and “Mr. Turtle’s Cloud Kingdom” before closing their second set with “Polygons.” As a reminder, Papadosio delivered an extended and energetic performance of “Skipswitch”.
