
DAMASCUS – Light Up Damascus will offer a variety of activities throughout the day today, culminating with the Lighting Ceremony at 5:15 PM.
Community / business events
The day begins with a breakfast sponsored by the Damascus Community Center Park from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the lower level of the Friends of Damascus Church. The meal includes pancakes, local syrup, sausage, juice, coffee and eggs for a donation of $ 7.
Damascus Hardware will open at 8 a.m. and offer an open house including a “soup in” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Station 42 will be open from 9 am to noon and will offer $ 5 children’s haircuts, $ 10 nails and refreshments; and Dragonfly Salon & Spa will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with children’s nail polish, feathers, small bags of produce, 10% gift cards (message included), punch and cookies.
The United Methodist Church of Damascus will host its Home and Crafts Fair with a lunch counter, a cookie walk and a free Hot Pots ornament painting (compliments of Tim Barnes Insurance) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. while the Pearce House will host an open house from noon to 2 p.m. featuring Miriam Good from Schoolhouse Stitchers teaching guests how to make a stitched Christmas ornament (supplies provided).
G’s Pizza World will sell pizzas at the share from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Jingle jam
A variety of activities will be offered during the Jingle Jam from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Friends of Damascus Church (inside the atrium, gymnasium and hallway).
Activities include:
Santa and his elf will arrive by fire truck from Damascus at 2 p.m.
Damascus Garden Club Seasons Greenery Display. Enter the drawing for these individual displays. Must be present at the ceremony to win.
Stéphanie’s beauty house. Hair tinsel, hot chocolate, cookies.

Lego presentation / contest. Bring your Christmas Lego / Duplo creations to the Lego table before 2 p.m. to enter the contest.
DFC preschool singers at 2:30 p.m. plus ugly Christmas sweaters and shirts contest, style show for elementary-aged children.
West Branch Brass Choir conducted by Lauren Stitle at 4:45 p.m. outside at the DFC Main Entrance.
Illumination ceremony
There will be a live nursery in the North DFC parking lot at 5 p.m. The lighting ceremony will begin at 5:15 p.m. and will include a message from Pastor Frank Zugaro and recognition of the distinguished citizen (s). The event will be followed by Christmas carols in town.
