HANCOCK COUNTY — Learn more about life in another country. Choose your own adventure.
There’s a fresh look at some of the Vacation Bible Schools taking place in the area this year.
“It will be something of a cultural immersion experience,” Reverend Mark Havel said of the upcoming VBS at Cross of Grace Lutheran Church in New Palestine. “(A) where we learn about our ongoing ministry in Fondwa, Haiti, building houses for the organization…Zanmi Fondwa.” Havel is chairman of the board.
In McCordsville, Outlook Christian Church combines popular events from past summers to engage kids with varying interests.
“We’ve combined our sports clinic and our VBS into ‘(Choose Your Own) Adventure Week,'” Chief Minister Rob McCord said. “We will offer three tracks: Art, Sports and STEM.” Each child chooses a track for the whole week – art, including mosaics, painting, comics and other works; STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) — robots, slime, balloon cars and other projects; or sports – basketball, football, dodgeball and other games.
These area churches are offering Vacation Bible School this summer. Programs are free unless otherwise stated.
