JERSEYVILLE – The Jersey County Arts Council is looking for singers for the fall session of the Children’s Community Choir.
The choir was formed last spring and has met all summer. Weekly rehearsals culminated in a Disney concert in early August.
An orientation and initial rehearsal will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11 at First Presbyterian Church of Jerseyville, 400 S. State St., Jerseyville. The north entrance of the church will be open to visitors and children must be accompanied by an adult.
The group will be led by Cory Frank and accompanied by Christine Bear. A participation fee of $30 will be charged; scholarships are available. The choir is open to all students in grades one through seven. Depending on the registration, the choir may be divided into groups of younger and older singers, with separate rehearsal times.
Weekly rehearsals will take place from Tuesday October 11 to Tuesday December 13 with a dress rehearsal on Monday December 19. The choir will perform a public performance of the holiday selections on December 20 at 7 p.m.
Trudy Cairns will also be teaching an acrylic painting class on Monday, October 17, from 6-8:30 p.m. Participants will paint a 14 x 11 inch canvas of sunflowers in front of a vintage truck with a sunset behind. The cost is $35.
