The Island Consort Chamber Choir will perform “Lyrics of Love” for audiences in Nanaimo and Parksville this month.
The choir will perform in Nanaimo at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 4235 Departure Bay Rd., on Saturday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m.
“The choir is pleased to present a very special spring program which combines heartfelt songs and beautiful soloists with a fitting selection of short poems from the likes of Edgar Allen Poe, William Shakespeare, Robert Burns and Henry Longfellow,” noted director Bruce Farquharson in a press release. “The music transcends many genres, from plainsong and baroque to Scottish folk and vocal jazz, complete with a rhythm section – ending with a wonderful arrangement of Amazing Grace.”
For both concerts, door admission will be $20 for adults, $5 for students, and free for youth under 13.
The statement clarified that masks will be required by the public, as the choir will also be masked, and that full vaccination is strongly recommended.
The choir will also perform Monday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Parksville at Knox United Church, 345 Pym St.
