America’s Favorite Dance Company Returns to Houston
Just in time for Black History Month, the Society for the Performing Arts is hosting the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in the town of Bayou for a weekend of performances. From February 18 to 19, the famous dance troupe, led by artistic director Robert Battle, will present Revelations (1960). Performances will take place at Jones Hall, tickets start at $ 40.

Houston Chamber Choir Listen to the future Festival
This month marks the 22nd Listen to the future festival, the Houston Chamber Choir Youth Choir Invitation. Three schools in the Greater Houston area are invited to participate. With a focus on Kindergarten to Grade 12 programs, this year’s festival will feature performances by student choirs from Parker Elementary School, North Shore High School and Cy High School. -Fair, as well as a special performance by the Grammy Award-winning Houston Chamber Choir. The free performance will take place in the sanctuary of South Main Baptist Church on Sunday, January 30 at 4 p.m.

Fresh Arts Artist INC 2022 program
Since 2017, Fresh Arts has been working to provide artists from all disciplines with the necessary resources to perpetuate their practices. The Artist INC program welcomes up to 25 participants for eight weeks for a series of artist-led workshops, multimedia lectures and group activities. Participants are selected on the basis of their submissions, their preparation and the diversity of their cohort. Applications are due Friday at 5 p.m.

MOCA is looking for artists for new public art installations
The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs is seeking submissions for a live-in mural and sculpture project at the North Belt Public Safety Complex, a 31,000-square-foot hub for Houston police and firefighters. The project budget is $ 430,000 for the two works of art, one to be lived outside and a mural inside the new building. Artists and collectives working in Texas are encouraged to apply. Applications must be submitted by February 14 at 11:59 p.m.
