To replenish and revamp its music schedule, which has been affected by the pandemic, Groome Church will hold choir auditions beginning Friday, April 22.
“Singing and music are essential and vital to our ministries. We are very much looking forward to having a full complement of singers in place again, before September, practiced and well rehearsed. We also look forward with joy to the day when singers and congregants can once again come together in person and lift their voices in singing without masks,” said Reverend Dr. S. Willard Crossan III. “As Paul said in his Letter to the Ephesians, ‘Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord.’ God willing, our congregation plans to do just that: sing and make music in our hearts.
Groome auditions for soprano, alto, tenor, and bass positions are open to adults as well as middle and high school students.
Those who audition must be able to read music, have good command of their voice, and be willing to work on their music outside of rehearsals. Auditions may also consist of pitch memory, range, vocal strength, sight singing, and singing the first verse of “America” (“My Country ‘Tis of Thee”) as well as a prepared track optional.
Depending on the choir experience and the singing level of the individuals, monthly fees may be available. All listeners must be fully vaccinated.
Rehearsals for the choir take place at Groome Church, 601 Savannah Road, Lewes.
