Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur
This is an excerpt from the Chancery Notice of May 31, 2022 — Other Relief Measures for Church-Related Activities (ref: CHAN/CD/09/2022).
Highlights of these changes include the RESUME of the following effective Sunday, June 5, 2022:
In-person catechism and RCIA course: Parishes will be allowed to resume in-person catechism and RCIA classes.
Parish meetings: Face-to-face meetings will be allowed where all participants must remain masked when meetings are held indoors and the duration of the meeting must be short.
BEC Gatherings: BEC gatherings in homes can now resume in small numbers with mandatory mask wearing throughout the gathering.
Shared meals: When meals are served at meetings or gatherings, packaged foods are recommended. When gatherings involve only a small number of people, it is recommended that food be served in open spaces or large, well-ventilated rooms.
Singing in congregation at Mass: Singing in congregation will now be allowed while remaining masked.
Holy Communion to homebound: With the permission of the parish priest, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) may bring the Holy Eucharist to members of the parish who cannot attend Mass observing all necessary precautions.
As we move forward together, we continue to err on the side of caution, honoring our commitment to protect each other and the most vulnerable in our faith community. Keep in mind that our actions must be firmly guided by these fundamental principles at all times:
Wearing face masks: Wearing a mask remains mandatory indoors and strongly encouraged for outdoor gatherings, especially when there are crowds. High-risk and vulnerable people are strongly advised to wear a mask at all times.
Maintaining Hand Hygiene: Frequent hand washing with soap and the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers are highly recommended.
Ensure good ventilation and air filtration: Good ventilation protects against the spread of COVID-19. It replaces indoor air with outdoor air, which can reduce the number of infectious particles inside. (Annex 1)
Self-regulation: If you are not feeling well, especially with flu-like symptoms (cough, cold, runny nose, fever), please stay away from public gatherings even if you have tested negative for COVID-19.
The Archdiocese would like to remind you that the dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation continues for the moment. However, those who can should make the effort to attend Mass in person.
