Snow and icy roads caused several closures Monday in Cowlitz County and the region.
RiverCities Transit reports that Route 33 is on a snow covered road, which means all stops on the Pacific Way and Mount Solo Road in Longview are closed. Route 57 is also on a snow covered road, which means all stops on Allen Street east of Minor Road, Corduroy Road, Sunrise Street, North 18th Avenue, and Burcham Street in Kelso are closed. Passengers on all other routes should expect delays, officials report.
Waste Control, the transfer station on Third Avenue, has suspended garbage collection until road conditions improve, plant manager Rolly Ensign said. If customers’ garbage is not picked up on the day of their regular collection, their garbage will be picked up the next scheduled day. For example, if the garbage is not collected on Monday, the garbage will be collected the following Monday, January 3, he said.
Lower Columbia College is closed on Mondays. Managers say no staff should report and all events and activities are canceled.
All Three Rivers Christian School campuses are closed Monday, including the main early learning campuses and the Ridge facility. Managers advise contacting dsampson@3riversschool.net with any questions about student schedules.
Staff at the Kelso Senior Center report that the Eighth Avenue facility will be closed until Wednesday. Activities such as bridge club, bingo and mahjong will resume when the weather improves, according to staff.
