Heather Bilbrey has discovered a passion for baking she has never known and is ready to share her talents with anyone who wants to learn.
Bilbrey is the owner of Heather’s Cookie Shop in Alice. She wasn’t always a baker, but she had two young daughters who at every birthday party found nicely decorated cookies.
Bilbrey decided that she would learn how to make them on her own and when she arrived at the bakery, she discovered her hidden talent.
The talent led her to work on her own. Over the past year, she has baked hundreds, if not thousands, of cookies for all occasions.
“I got encouragement from friends and from my church to share my talents. I started baking cookies for my daughters,” Bilbrey said. “It’s really a lot of fun.”
Bilbrey, who works from home and takes orders online and via Facebook, will run two classes to teach others how to bake and decorate their own cookies.
“I’m not afraid to teach what I know and lose business. Those who attend my classes take what they have learned with me and take it home,” she said. “It’s about learning a skill and empowering others. I love raising people.”
His classes will be held on Tuesday, November 30 from 6 p.m. at J’s Deli located at 901 N. Flournoy, and on Saturday, December 4 from 2 p.m. at Guns and Glamor located at 1801 E. Main Street. A fee of $ 55 covers the Christmas cookie, techniques and decoration.
