Canibus and Conway have a pair of songs that test the Christmas spirit! Listen to them!
For most people, Christmas is a time of family and happiness. The children are given a lot of toys. Women also have a lot of stuff. Men get deodorant and socks! If you are a Christian, it is the birthday of the baby Jesus. And, if you’re a secular heathen, you think a white man is going down the chimney. If you come from other walks of life, nothing really changes. And that brings us to Canibus and Conway.
Canibus has dropped “Covid Santa,” a wild song that chronicles the uneventful life and times of Saint Nick in a pandemic. The song appears on the new Canibus album KAIJU, and he’s about an UnJolly man who catches Covid! Not only that, Mrs. Claus left him! At the end of his days… Canibus tells how we lost this man! By the way, he dropped a video and official Covid Santa NFT – it’s at drawstring.io/drop/canibus/covidsanta/. You have to hear that to even come to believe it!
And then there’s Conway The Machine.
Conway released “Die On Xmas”. This song is a banger that has a bit more of a traditional Griselda Record that just happens to have a Christmas track. By the way, there is some intersectionality here. Westside Gunn got Covid for the second time and says he’s kicking her ass right now! Prayers for a speedy recovery! We sure don’t want to put death in the air like that, right? AND THAT SAID… Conway and Benny go bar for bar to this smashing beat. As far as I’m concerned, it’s just a Christmas song that only has the name, and it’s going to sound quite a while after the holidays.
