Cole Swindell extends his stay atop the country music charts with “She Had Me at Heads Carolina,” now in his second straight week atop the charts. Billboard Distribution table by country.
It was Swindell’s third consecutive single to top the charts for several weeks, following “Single Saturday Night” and its Lainey Wilson duet, “Never Say Never”.
But the reign of “Heads Carolina” features a stat unlike any of Swindell’s previous hits: it’s the fastest-rising single the star has ever released, reaching the top spot just 12 weeks after its release. .
Swindell’s latest multi-week hit — which is his 12th No. 1 single overall — literally embraces ’90s fervor: It samples liberally from Jo Dee Messina’s “Heads Carolina, Tails California,” courtesy of the writers of the original song, and the music video even features a cameo from Messina herself.
As he continues his country radio winning streak, Swindell is also on a roll in other aspects of his career. He is nominated for two trophies at the next CMA Awards 2022, both for his collaboration with Wilson: “Never Say Never” is in the running for music video of the year and musical event of the year.
Meanwhile, Swindell plans to kick off his Back Down to the Bar Tour headliner this weekend. The trek, a continuation of his spring 2022 Down to the Bar Tour, kicks off Sept. 23 in Helotes, Texas, and runs through mid-November. The ride includes two consecutive stops at the Ryman in Nashville; Swindell’s November 3 date at this location is already sold out. Buy Cole Swindell concert tickets here.
