Apostolic Vicariates of Palawan organize activities for 400 YOCs in the province
The Apostolic Vicariates of Taytay and Puerto Princesa in Palawan are organizing activities for the celebration of 400 years of Christianity in the province which ends next year.
The pilgrimage to the various churches of the Vicariate of the Jubilee Cross 400 YOC is underway. A special prayer was also released for the celebration to help publicize the arrival and blessing of Christianity in Palawan 400 years ago. The official theme song “Kristiyanismo sa Palawan” was also released.
Church leaders in Palawan, led by Bishop Taytay Broderick Pabillo and Bishop of Puerto Princesa, Socrates Mesiona, call on the faithful to seek the guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit to continue the mission of spreading the Good News in every community in Palawan.
“Also seek the intercession of the Blessed Mother to deepen your faith and pass it on to the next generation,” the bishops said.
The Apostolic Vicariates of Taytay and Puerto Princesa opened the year-long celebration of the 400 YOC in Palawan on August 28, 2022 at St. Augustine Parish on Cuyo Island, where foreign missionaries introduced Christianity for the first times in the province. The celebration culminates in August 2023 with a two-day conference in Puerto Princesa.
