Now, to keep this list under 200 songs, I haven’t ranked EVERY Disney song, technically. Here’s what I’m excluding:
-Songs from classic movies and short films, like Make Mine Music, Saludos Amigos, Melody Time, The Three Caballeros, Fun and Fancy Free, etc
-Songs of anything containing live action.
-Songs from all Disney sequels straight to video (I’m SO sorry, lion king 2. Your songs belong to the first places in the list, but it was already getting too long).
-Songs that play during the title or end credits (e.g. “Alice in Wonderland”).
-Background songs that don’t include any character parts we see singing (like “An Innocent Warrior” from Moana) with a few notable exceptions (mainly Tarzan and Brave).
– Songs less than a minute long (or a few seconds after a minute), UNLESS that song is meaningful. Thus, “Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People (reprise)” will not count as a short interlude to “Lost in the Woods”, but “Prince Ali (reprise)” does count since it is Jafar’s only song in Aladdin.
– Stop-motion movie songs like James and the giant peach and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
-Songs of the Winnie the Pooh movies. It seems like a separate thing and there are an excessive number of movies and songs.
-Songs of teacher’s pet and House on the beach because I’ve never heard of it, and I don’t think you’ve heard of it either.
-Non-musical songs. Any movie with three songs or less would not be considered a musical for this list. Exceptions will be made for really important non-musical songs, like “Cruella De Vil” or “You’ve Got a Friend In Me”.
-Songs without words.
-Songs that were not made specifically for the movie.
