Oswestry’s Cantiones Choir will perform at the town’s Church of Christ at 3:30 p.m., with the afternoon titled “My Spirit Has Sung All Day.”
Italian madrigals and English pieces, including Standford’s Bluebird, will be part of the concert, along with Serenade to Music by Vaughan Williams.
Cantiones is a 34-singer mixed choir based in Oswestry. The choir gives four principal concerts a year under the direction of composer and conductor Martin Bussey. In addition, he organizes an annual Come and Sing event and also participates in community activities.
Member Mike Coppock said, “We sing a wide range of music from all eras and work hard to maintain a high level of performance.
“Our concerts are meant to be both uplifting and enjoyable for the audience and the choir, and we strive for the same mix in our rehearsals.”
Tickets for the concert are available from the Rowanthorn shop in Oswestry, priced at £12, with under-18s free.
After the concert, rehearsals will follow for the choir’s annual Christmas concert.
Carols with Cantiones will take place, also at Christ Church, on December 17.
