Diana Terry, who directs the choir, said: “The choir will stop after the concert. After a life of performing, then ten years of choir, I take time to spend time with my husband and my family… but never say never!
Diana, who lives in Pevensey Bay, is a former professional actress and singer and has performed in the West End, toured internationally and appeared in film, TV and radio.
Over the past nine and a half years Diana has led four Voices choirs in Pevensey Bay and Eastbourne.
During this period around £30,000 has been raised for charity and good causes for which the choir itself votes twice a year.
“June 17, 2022 will see the final Voices concert take place at the Kings Centre, Eastbourne. Choir rehearsals resume on February 2 and will take place each Wednesday from 6.30pm to 7.45pm at Christ the King Church Hall, Princes Road, Eastbourne. This means that there are 20 rehearsals until the concert date.
“We would like as many people as possible to join us for our last performance and help raise as much money as possible. The charity to benefit will be decided once the choir starts again.
“There may be people in our community who would like to come and sing, but who don’t want to make a long-term commitment. If so, this is your chance. You don’t need any previous singing experience, and we don’t use sheet music, just lyrics, so you won’t need to read music either. We are looking for anyone who just loves to sing! Gentlemen of all ages are especially welcome. Ladies of all voice ranges too.
Weekly subscriptions cost £7, or if you pay for four weeks at a time, it’s £25 a month: “All of our profits go to good causes.
“Singing has been scientifically proven to be good for mental wellbeing and physical health. It’s a great way to meet new people, and I know lasting friendships have been made at Voices.
“Get in touch with us and come take part in our latest fundraising concert. You can simply help out by buying tickets (£20 each) if you don’t want to sing with the choir.
