A 50-person choir from St. Mary’s Elementary School in Athlone has teamed up with the Knights of St. Columban to produce a short film for RTÉ People’s Angelus.
The clip first aired last Friday night at 6 p.m. on RTÉ 1, and will continue every Friday in December.
The beautiful clip features St Mary’s Choir singing Christmas carols outside St Mary’s Church in Athlone as members of the Knights build the church’s manger step by step.
The local elementary school choir was under the watchful eye of their teachers, Nessa McLoughlin, Noelle Lee and Hilary Roche, while Peter Agbanobi, Sean Leydon and Ray Joyce also featured in the RTE clip as they put on the finishing touches at St. Mary’s Church. Cradle.
This is a very exciting project for the student body and teachers at St Mary’s Elementary School who were honored to have been chosen for the People’s Angelus on RTE and also for local Knights of Columbus members.
The 50 primary school students, parents and friends as well as the Knights will listen to RTE 1 at 6 p.m. every Friday evening throughout the month of December to see the fruits of their work on the People’s Angelus.
