ALL DECEMBER
Illuminated Christmas displays on Duke Street until New Years Eve: Drive past the Church of the Apostolic Faith campsite or stroll past the Church of the Apostolic Faith campsite on SE Duke Street from 52nd Avenue east to enjoy thousands of lights, a full-size nativity scene and “the tallest decorated Christmas tree in Southeast Portland.” The lights will be on daily from dusk to dawn, during throughout the holiday season, through the end of the year. Seasonal music will also be played from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. each evening Viewing is only possible from public sidewalks and streets; The church hopes to return to its established family celebration on site next year – “but until then, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the Christmas team at the campground!”
DECEMBER 21Solstice Service at Mt. Scott Presbyterian: The Mt. Scott Park Presbyterian Church invites the community to a “Longest Night” service at 7:00 pm tonight, open to everyone. “The service recognizes that the Holidays often include feelings of grief, loss and regret, and that they will contain a sacred space in which we can both honor our losses and seek hope.” Mt. Christmas Eve Candlelight Services at All Saints in Woodstock: Christmas Eve services are offered by All Saints Episcopal Church at 40th and Woodstock Boulevard at 4 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. today, with carols sung before the second service at 8 p.m. Open to everyone. Masks compulsory for everyone from 5 years old.Christmas Eve services at Moreland Presbyterian: “Welcome to the Wondrous” is the theme of both the family Christmas celebration at 5 pm and the candlelight Christmas celebration at 11 pm, with choir and strings. All welcome. Moreland Presbyterian Church is located at 1814 SE Bybee Boulevard in Westmoreland.Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at Presbyterian Mt. Scott: Bring your family for a traditional candlelight worship service and familiar Christmas carols this afternoon at 5 p.m. at the Mt. Scott Park Presbyterian Church, 5512 SE 73rd Avenue. DECEMBER 25TH
All Saints in Woodstock Office Christmas Day: All Saints Episcopal Church opens for a Christmas Day service this morning at 10 a.m., open to all. The church is located at 40th and Woodstock Boulevard. Masks mandatory for all ages 5 and up.
JANUARY 3
Registration begins for the Brooklyn Preschool Co-op Open House Tours: The non-profit Brooklyn Co-op Preschool will be hosting an open house on Saturday, February 5 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. It’s not until February, but registrations for an entry reservation scheduled for that day begin on January 3. Register on the website – www.brooklyncooppreschool.org. On the open house, you will learn about this school’s classes for 2-5 year olds, meet the teachers, ask questions of current members and tour the school and playground. Masks required for all guests aged 2 and over; and proof of vaccination is required for clients 18 years of age and older.
