BROOKLINE, MA – New Years Eve in 2021 will not be a full return to normal thanks to the increase in coronavirus cases linked to the omicron variant. But the holiday season is back in a much bigger way compared to 2020.
Here are a few events and activities taking place near Newton this year, including the return of the area’s biggest event: The First Night in Downtown Boston, which did not take place in person on December 31, 2020.
First night, Boston – The biggest local New Years celebration will feature a full day of music, entertainment and food in and around Back Bay. The city fireworks display begins at 7:01 p.m., followed by the Inner Harbor fireworks display at midnight.
Cosmica New Year Party, Boston – Enjoy your last moments of 2021 at Cosmica. The evening will be filled with tasty food, delicious drinks, live mariachis from Telemundo star Veronica Robles, on the decks the DJ spinning funk, soul, disco, Latin / MPB and old school salsa. Enjoy dinner and entertainment or just party at the bar.
La Ruche New Year’s Eve Speakeasy 2022, Boston – It’s a night of bohemian decadence and eccentric fun! Chef Ryan Skeen will offer a delicious a la carte menu from 5 pm to 8 pm and a prix fixe three-course menu from 8:30 pm The evening will also feature The Beehive’s selection of champagnes.
30+ Back Bay Ball New Years Eve, Boston – Celebrate the New Year with one of Boston’s most anticipated events. Invite your friends to share this upscale evening featuring a three-course meal, live music, and midnight party favors and celebrations.

New Year’s Pop-up at Lavin’s Liquors, WaylanD – The Cousins Maine Lobster food truck and Simply Scrunch Co. will be at the local liquor store from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The ultimate New Years Eve food and drink event, Waltham – This New Years Eve event is a cultural extravaganza of food and drink at the First Parish Church. There will be dancing, various cultural and musical animators and entertainment for children.
