TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – There are only two days left until Christmas in Green Acres, NOEL: He Is Born.
This is a musical performance by their choir and instrumental ensemble made up of over 200 choir members and an instrumental ensemble of 55 pieces. They spent the week practicing in the worship hall at Green Acres Baptist Church.
November Roberts has been singing in the choir for just over 17 years.
“I love the ministry of music and how you can tell the story of the birth of Christ and of course the story of redemption,” she said. “It’s a way of telling the gospel through music and it speaks to people in a way that sermons sometimes don’t.”
Mike Parks is the cult’s pastor and says he starts building up the lineup in June. He said he would leave for about three days with 150 pieces of music.
“I go through each of them, I pray through them, and I just ask God to give us the songs that he could use to make an impact on people’s lives,” Parks said.
Roberts said they started singing in August and worked on a few songs each week. They have been separated from the orchestra and the group until this week.
“We have songs that we listen to. So yes, some members play music, but also a lot of us listen to the songs over and over again over those several months, ”said Roberts.
The program is not possible without the work of many dedicated people.
“Then we start working with our lighting and sound technicians, our television crews. It normally starts in September, if we are using video elements it can start in August. But we don’t go into this room until presentation week.
You can see the performances on Sundays at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. There will also be a show on Mondays at 7 p.m. at Tyler’s Green Acres Baptist Church.
