As “Pomp and Circumstance” month approaches, local high schools will hold pre-pandemic graduation events, as well as popular activities for seniors.
One of the favorite graduate activities returning this year is the trip to Disneyland. The trip begins on May 18 and they will return the next day.
Turlock Graduation Week will begin with ceremonies at eCademy at 5:30 p.m. and Turlock Adult School at 7 p.m. on May 24. The start of Roselawn High will be at 6:30 p.m. on May 25.
Pitman High graduates will don their robes for a ceremony to be held at 7 p.m. on May 26, followed by Turlock High School’s graduation at 7 p.m. on May 27.
Students will be assigned a specific number of tickets for friends and family, according to TUSD administrative assistant Shari Rocha-Fraga.
Launch festivities for Turlock Christian High are set for 6:30 p.m. on May 27.
Pitman High will not be hosting a sober grad party this year, but Turlock will be hosting one at the Ten Pin Fun Center, which will be hosted by the Turlock High Sober Grad Booster Club. Students will have access to Ten Pin from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. and can play games, eat, and have fun with their fellow graduates.
“Sober graduates started stopping kids from messing around after graduation,” Booster Club secretary Victoria Ladd said. “We just want to give these kids a safe place to have fun and enjoy their high school graduation.”
This year’s graduation is a throwback to normal pre-pandemic celebrations. In 2020, students had a virtual graduation while in 2021, ceremonies were spread over different times and days to allow for fewer attendees at each event.
