The Carson City Symphony Association announces that the Joyful Noise Carson Children’s Choir will begin its fall semester on Tuesday, September 6, from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 412 W. Musser Street in Carson City.
The choir, led by Michelle Powers, welcomes children aged 4 to 12. Powers said, “Weekly rehearsals develop students’ musical skills, strong voices and joy in music. I’m excited to start a new season of singing and playing, making music, and making new friends!” This semester the focus will be on holiday music for shows at senior centers, nursing homes and on Symphony’s “Holiday Treat” concert on Dec. 11 at the Carson City Community Center.
Tuition for the semester is free. To help offset the cost of music, supplies, insurance, instructor and chaperone allowances, and more, parents can join the Carson City Symphony Association, but it’s not an obligation.
Joyful Noise Carson Children’s Choir, an educational program of the Carson City Symphony Association, was founded in 2017 and has been led by Michelle Powers since fall 2019. It is publicly funded in part through a grant from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts and by private donations.
