The St. Cecilia Chamber Choir is holding auditions for all vocal parts as we begin to prepare Brahms’ delightful “Liebeslieder Waltzes” (Love Song Waltzes). Published in 1870 and featuring the poetry of Georg Friedrich Daumer, the charming waltzes were an immediate hit for Brahms, who wrote them as a tribute to the popular “Waltz King”, Johann Strauss, Jr., and his friend Franz Schubert . .
This choir is a dedicated and friendly group, eager to welcome new members, and we particularly encourage gifted students to audition! Singers wishing to audition must have good vocal control, and sopranos and altos must be able to sing without vibrato. Ability to read music is preferred, but those who cannot read can participate by spending more time learning music at home using the practice materials provided.
